Press release in conclusion of the 1 october 2010 about the

Week of spiritual jihad, through fasting, prayer

and sakina (God-inspired peace of the soul)

for reconciliation between the children of Mother Syria

at the monastery of Mar Musa al-Habashi

Monks and nuns of the monastery dedicated themselves, with friends and a number of visitors from the vast Syrian mosaic, to fast and prayer. We met daily in the church to read the Gospel, recite the Quran and meditate on a selection of texts about non-violent activism for reform, through forgiveness, through a dialogue based on brotherly reciprocal listening, through the acceptance of difference without conditions. A large number of friends (people and organizations) from around the world joined us in spirit, which made us feel deeply in communion and unity before God.

Alla fine della settimana di jihad spirituale

per la riconciliazione

tra i figli della Siria nostra madre comune,

a Deir Mar Musa el-Habasci, Nebek, Siria.

Monaci e monache del monastero, amici e numerosi visitatori, tessere del magnifico mosaico umano della Siria, ci siamo impegnati nel digiuno e la preghiera, e ci siamo riuniti in chiesa quotidianamente per la lettura del santo Evangelo e la salmodia del nobile Corano, nonché per la meditazione su testi scelti a proposito dell’impegno non violento per la riforma attraverso il perdono e il dialogo fraterno, quello capace di ascolto e dell’accettazione incondizionata della differenza. Un gran numero di amici di tanti paesi, a titolo personale o comunitario, si sono impegnati con noi spiritualmente a partecipare in questa settimana; e abbiamo sperimentato la profondità della comunione e dell’unità di fronte a Dio.

pour la réconciliation entre les enfants de mère Syrie

Les moines et les moniales du monastère se sont consacrés, avec leurs amis et un certain nombre de visiteurs issus de la vaste mosaïque syrienne, au jeûne et à la prière. Nous nous sommes réunis quotidiennement dans l’église pour lire l’Evangile, psalmodier le Coran et méditer sur un choix de textes à propos la militance non-violente en faveur des réformes, à travers le pardon, le dialogue d’écoute fraternelle et l’acceptation inconditionnelle de la différence. Un grand nombre d’amis (personnes et organisations) des quatre coins du monde ont participé spirituellement à cette semaine avec nous. Nous avons ainsi ressenti profondément la communion et l’unité devant Dieu.

ختامًا لأسبوع الجهاد الروحي من أجل المصالحة بين أبناء سوريا الأم

في دير مار موسى الحبشي – النبك - سوريا

جاهدنا، رهبان الدير وراهباته وأصدقاءه وعدداً من الزوّار من فسيفساء سوريا الرائع، بالصوم والصلاة، واجتمعنا يوميًا في الكنيسة لقراءة الإنجيل المقدس وتلاوة القرآن الكريم، والتأمل في نصوص مختارة عن السعي اللاعنفي لأجل الإصلاح عبر الغفران والحوار الأخويّ المُصغي وتقبّل الاختلاف غير المشروط. والتزم معنا روحيا في المشاركة في هذا الأسبوع عدد كبير من الأصدقاء  (أشخاص وجماعات) في أنحاء كثيرة من العالم، فاختبرنا معاً عمق الشراكة والوحدة أمام الله.
