mo dei motivi di gioia di cui vorremmo rendervi partecipi. Nell’aprile del 1997 padre Paolo è stato reintegrato nella Compagnia di Gesù. La comunità del monastero ha vissuto un tempo di incertezza e tuttavia di apertura al Signore attraverso il dialogo con il Vescovo e la Compagnia. Durante alcuni mesi Paolo si è diviso tra la presenza nel monastero ed il servizio in sostituzione ed aiuto di un altro gesuita anziano, di alcune parrocchie maronite e d’una costruenda casa di esercizi spirituali. Finalmente in ottobre è tornato a tempo pieno a Deir Mar Musa ed ora vi opera come gesuita inviato dalla Compagnia, su richiesta del Vescovo locale, per la fondazione del monastero. E` per tutti una buona notizia, è stata una forte esperienza di discernimento nella Chiesa, motivo di consolazione per tanti amici del monastero, di Paolo e della Compagnia, ed è stato anche motivo di edificazione del popolo di Dio, che fa sempre fatica a capire e a portare le opposizioni tra carismi ed istituzioni. Allora di cuore grazie a Dio.

Nous avons de bonnes raisons de nous réjouir et nous aimerions vous en faire part. En avril 1997, le père Paolo a été réintégré dans la Compagnie de Jésus. La communauté du monastère a vécu une période d’incertitude et d’ouverture à travers dans son dialogue avec l’évêque et la compagnie. Pendant quelques mois, Paolo a partagé son temps entre d’une part la présence au monastère et d’autre part le remplacement et l’aide d’un autre jésuite âgé dans plusieurs paroisses maronites et dans une maison d’exercice spirituel en construction. Enfin, en octobre il est rentré à plein temps à Deir Mar Moussa et où il travaille désormais comme jésuite envoyé par la Compagnie sur demande de l’évêque local pour la fondation du monastère. C’est une bonne nouvelle pour tout le monde. Cela a été une forte expérience de discernement dans l’Église, un motif de consolation pour de nombreux amis du monastère, de Paolo et de la Compagnie et cela a permis aussi l’édification du peuple de Dieu qui a toujours du mal à pouvoir comprendre et àsupporter les oppositions entre charisme et institution. De tout coeur remercions Dieu.

Letter to the Friends of the Monastery of Saint Moses, 1998
We have some good news that we would like to share with you.
In April 1997 Father Paulo was received back into the Society of Jesus. The community of the monastery has been through a period of uncertainty but this has also been a time of openness to the Lord, through dialogue with the Bishop and the Society of Jesus. For some months Paolo has divided his time between the community of the monastery, some Maronite parishes and constructing a house for spiritual exercises as the assistant to an elderly Jesuit. Finally in October he returned to Deir Mar Musa full-time. He is now working to the foundation of the monastery, for which he received a mission by the Society of Jesus, as requested by the local Bishop. This was good news for everybody. It was a strong experience of discernment in the Church and was a great consolation for many Friends of Mar Musa, Paolo and the Jesuits. It also was a cause of edification for the faithful, who always find it difficult to accept the tensions between personal calls and institutions. So give thanks to the Lord!

Dieser "Brief an die Freunde des Mar Musa Klosters" hätte zu Weihnachten fertig sein sollen, nun hoffen wir, dass er Euch zu Ostern erreicht. In meinem und im Namen der Gemeinschaft bedanke ich mich herzlich bei allen, die uns Ihre besten Wünsche gesandt haben. Das Abendgebet ist die Zeit, während der wir Euch alle im Geiste der Solidarität treffen. Dort fühlen wir uns Euch nahe und dort erfahren wir Eure Teilname an unserem gemeinschaftlichen Abenteuer.

I wished you had received this “Letter to all friends of the Monastery of Mar Musa” before Christmas, but you will read it for Lent, as I hope.
I heartily thank, personally and on behalf of the community, all those who sent us greetings and wishes letters. Evening prayer is the privileged place in which we can meet all of you in spirit of solidarity. We feel tied up one another, so that we can deeply touch your sharing to our community enterprise.

Deir Mar Musa, Febbraio 97
Questa “lettera agli amici del monastero di Mar Musa” voleva essere pronta per Natale e invece vi arriva, speriamo, in Quaresima. A nome mio personale, e a nome della comunità, ringrazio di cuore tutti coloro che ci hanno mandato lettere di saluto e di auguri. La preghiera della sera è luogo privilegiato di incontro con tutti voi e di solidarietà nel Signore; sentiamo così di potervi essere vicini e sperimentiamo la vostra partecipazione alla nostra avventura comunitaria.

LETTERA AGLI AMICI, PER NATALE
Ti ho stretto a me e ti sei fatto un pianto, hai colorato il mio abito del colore del tuo lavoro. Ti senti schiacciato da una precarietà sempre incombente. Tanti sforzi, tanta fatica ma il Mercato che promette ricca sicurezza a tutti fa grazia solo a qualcuno come la lotteria.
